Key stage 1
Comprises of Year 1 and 2, learners of 5 to 7 years of age, facilitated in an environment and ambience that appreciates differences and backgrounds in an amiable and fostering environment. Learners learn best when they keenly contribute in the learning process. Subject areas include Islamic Studies, Arabic, English, Mathematics, Science, and Computing. Humanities and subjects of general nature will be taught as part of our cross curricular studies.
Key stage 2
Learners in Year 3 to 6 are provided suitable transition opportunities for the next phase of learning. Opportunities for independent and investigative activities support the development of improved cognitive skills. Implanting reading practices through the academic year is the aim for English, problem solving and enquiry-based learning is the focus of other subjects like Math and Science. Values and positive attitude with social responsibility is encouraged through Islamic education while digital citizenship and technological expertise is promoted through Computing.
The curriculum will progress accurately through the key stages and the framework puts the learner at the centre of it. Evaluation of assessment outcomes and close monitoring of trends in attainment and progression at all levels will indicate the spiral progress on curriculum and appropriate planning for continuity.
Academic leaders will monitor, evaluate and collaborate in each phase to ensure that knowledge, skills and understanding for each subject is progressive and updated regularly.
Key stage 3
Our Secondary School learners from Years 7 to 9 are prudently guided to have the confidence and preparedness for life in the 21st century. Our interactive and engaging lessons continue in KS3 with our subject specialist educators delivering a curriculum that develops learners independent learning skills.
Upon entering KS3, learners can continue the subjects they studied in KS2 and may also explore other subjects that are on offer from year 7 whereby upon completion of Year 9 they would have discovered which subjects they would like to study at IGCSE level.
Learners will have developed a high-quality of speaking and writing fluently in English thus giving them the tools in effective communication with high standards, which will aid in all specialist subjects along with thinking critically and having the emotional wellbeing to respect and be respected in society.
Key stage 4
Learners progressing onto Year 10 and 11 are holistically supported for their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) usually attempted at the end of Year 11.
Core subjects are currently offered as a natural progression from KS3 for which learners have been prepared for. Subjects include Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Studies, Accounting and Economics. Specialist subjects Arabic, Islam are on offer according to the demand of learners.
By this stage of our learners educational journey, independent study and a sense of self responsibility and accountability is emphasised. Educators are on hand to provide the required guidance and tools to assist learners set up a balanced study time both during and outside of live sessions.
Learners will sit for their IGCSE with the Pearson Edexcel Examination Board and the board of education in Cambridge on specified subjects
Our main objective of the lesson is to reinforce and instill the learners to believe in Allah and worship Him alone. We aim to develop the faith through the growth of emotional, mental and psychological inclinations that consolidate God consciousness and the obedience of His Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhiwasallam).
This lesson plays a key role in building the spiritual and moral aspects of the learner’s character, creating a foundation for dealing with the society and contributing to its advancement. Our Islamic Studies programme is designed to educate learners about the fundamentals of Islamic knowledge and to enable them to properly implement that knowledge in their life.
These fundamental aspects include: AQEEDAH, FIQH, Islamic morals, Prophet’s biography “SEERAH”, Quran recitation, TAJWEED and TAFSEER.
Arabic is the language of the Quran and a most widely spoken language in the world. It is very important to learn and explore the language in order to understand the word of Allah better and ponder upon it’s meanings, therefore teaching and learning the Arabic language holds an integral place at SkySCHOOL online.
The Arabic curriculum is developed with consideration of cultural, social situations and focus on a global and intercultural understanding. The curriculum of Non-native learners is differentiated within each year group to ensure that appropriate support is provided for each learner.
We focus on development in the four primary language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing in a relaxed, fun and engaging atmosphere. We use a variety of teaching and learning styles in Arabic lessons. The teaching is through repetition, educational websites, ICT, group work, pair work, discussions, interactive activities, games, drama, art and crafts.
Our carefully selected texts are linked with the relevant Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG), and Writing to develop and enhance our learners’ differentiated skills. All skills are continuously integrated forming an understanding of the wholesomeness of the National Curriculum.
READING
From developing our KS1 learners in GPC (Graphemes, Phonemes, Correspondence) to confident fluent readers with sound comprehension, reading is prioritised to enhance our learners’ abilities to branch out in all skills. We embark upon exploring a variety of texts and genres.
Promoting enjoyable interactive daily lessons while supporting and meeting the objectives of the National Curriculum, we develop the confidence in our leaners. In Maths we tackle the ability to use, interpret and communicate mathematical information to solve real-world problems. These include the ability to understand basic Maths such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication which stand as the core to branch into all aspects of Maths.
Our topic based Science curriculum has been specially designed and formulated for delivering interactive, exciting lessons, incorporating regular practical experiments. We incite the young minds of our pupils by challenging and encouraging them in scientific predictions and explanations. Consistently continuing our cross curricular theme throughout, our learners will delve into the creative and stimulating arena of acquiring knowledge of scientific concepts.
Develop an interest in and enthusiasm for the study of business. Develop an understanding of business concepts, business terminology, business objectives and the integrated nature of business activity.
Understand how the main types of businesses organized, financed and operated. Develop and apply knowledge, understanding and skills to contemporary business issues in a wide range of business from small enterprise to large multinationals and business operating in local, national and global context.
Develop critical-thinking and enquiry skills to distinguish between facts and opinion, calculating, interpreting and evaluating business data, to help building arguments and make informed judgements. Develop an understanding of the dynamics of business activity and the related considerations of ethics and sustainability for global business.
The process of identifying, measuring and communicating economic information to permit informed judgements and decisions by users of the information. Accounting involves concepts and standards in bookkeeping and preparing financial statements in a global context. The ability to interpret the information and make decisions is an important aspect of accounting. Consistency and ethical codes of conduct are requirements in accounting. The study involves in developing skills on applying concepts, calculations, using formats, preparing statements and interpretation of statements.
Owing to the growing importance in Information and Communication Technology our curriculum is designed to be a fun based educational experience which is given equal priority alongside reading, writing and numeracy.
We use a range of methodology to deliver the lessons. Our learners will develop key computer skills in a range of applications including computer programming, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, digital graphics, email, presentations, video/animation, the internet and web authoring. We also focus on e-Safety issues and the adaption of work to suit their audience.
An innovative approach to KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER; our content has been created taking into consideration learners’ perspective in having interest to gain knowledge in front of a screen. Combination of intuitive power points, animations and recorded video provides a holistic approach to the learning process.
Our lessons are conducted live by our experienced and expert educators. We utilize number of teaching and learning methods and strategies within our timetabled lessons.
